Shelter Medicine Program Assists Humane Society of Yuma with Spay and Neuter Clinic

September 5, 2022

On August 6 and 7, the Midwestern University College of Veterinary Medicine’s Hillary Herendeen, V.M.D., Clinical Assistant Professor, and Rachael Kreisler, V.M.D., M.S.C.E, DACVPM, Epidemiology, Associate Professor, assisted with a spay and neuter clinic for the Humane Society of Yuma. About 60 cats and 40 dogs were spayed or neutered each day, with a total of 201 animals receiving care.

These community outreach services are made possible through Midwestern University’s College of Veterinary Medicine Shelter Medicine Program. This program provides our veterinary students with hands-on learning opportunities through community service and aids underserved Arizona communities, shelters, and rescue organizations.
